Keeping cosy in Winter
Well school is well and truly back in full swing now and mums and dads are back at work. With the wintry weather and the sun refusing to shine we can sometimes feel a little low on energy at this time of year, even a little sad. No wonder it's called the winter blues.
On the other hand if we embrace the positive aspects of Winter it can actually be a wonderful time of the year. Now is the time to sit around the fire with family and friends and enjoy great conversation, watch a movie or just curl up on the sofa with a good book and a warm drink. Lovely!
Maybe the Danish have it about right with their idea of hygge (pronounce hooguh). This beautiful concept is not just about fluffy cushions and woolly sweaters and Scandinavian style home décor. It is essentially about
-time with family and friends
-nostalgia and gratitude
-enjoyment of the everyday
-the comfort of a warm hug
-embracing the peace of a moment of solitude
-living in the here and now
After the hustle and bustle (and yes even stress) of the Christmas and Holiday season hygge is the enjoyment of nothing much really happening…and that just about sums January up. We seem to be just waiting for the longer days and warmer days of Spring or Easter when instead we could just enjoy and be thankful for the small things each day.
Dinosaurs- we are all fascinated!
It seems that nothing captures the imagination quite like Dinosaurs. It doesn’t matter if you are a boy or a girl, young or a little older we all seem to share the same fascination with dinosaurs.
Years ago we had the Jurassic Park movies- still great fun to entertain the whole family on a Sunday afternoon. For a more accurate take on these incredible creatures we have the brilliant Chris Packham and his “The Real T Rex” showing on BBC2.
There is so much we can learn about dinosaurs and we are lucky that there are lots of places to visit where we can learn and discover and be amazed.Here are some of our favourites;
The Natural History Museum, London

The National Museum of Scotland

The Dinosaur Museum of Dorchester
Only 7 miles from the famous World Heritage Site Jurassic Coast this is the place to learn about dinosaurs and go outdoors on the hunt for prehistoric fossils. Join the expedition and dig for fossils in the excavation pit.
